In September 2008, there was Milenyo.
In September 2009, there were Ondoy and Pepeng.
In September 2011, there were Pedring and Quiel.
Typhoons Pedring and Quiel (international names: Nesat and Nalgae) are two of the latest destructive storms that slammed the northern parts of Luzon. They left in their wake a trail of destruction that killed close to 60 people and affected nearly 3 million, aside from the physical damage estimated at P6 billion.
Majority of Luzon’s provinces and parts of Metro Manila experienced massive flooding. The effects of the devastation left victims with no homes and livelihood. Many residents staying in cramped and unfit evacuation sites started to experience symptoms of colds, cough and other infections.
As a quick response, Operation Blessing Philippines dispatched disaster response teams to the province of Nueva Ecija to distribute relief goods and provide medical aid. Simultaneously, relief and rescue response teams were sent to the heavily-flooded province of Bulacan to assist the affected families and provide their immediate needs.
Relief and medical assistance are on full swing in these two provinces. You can join us in helping more of our kababayans in Luzon. Continue to support our relief operations and medical missions through the following:
